Connect Web.de to Grok
Yes — Grok can read, search and reply to your Web.de through Mailopoly. Connect Web.de to Mailopoly over IMAP with your normal Web.de password, once IMAP is enabled, add Mailopoly to Grok as a custom connector, sign in and ask. One connection covers Web.de and every other account you own. You use your normal Web.de password, but POP3/IMAP access has to be switched on in Web.de settings first — it's off by default.
7-day free trial, no credit card.
Before you start
- A Mailopoly account — 7-day free trial, no credit card.
- You use your normal Web.de password, but POP3/IMAP access has to be switched on in Web.de settings first — it's off by default.
- Grok at grok.com or in the Grok apps. On Grok Business or Enterprise, an admin adds the connector for the team first.
Connect Web.de to Grok in three steps
1 Connect Web.de to Mailopoly
- Start a Mailopoly account at mailopoly.com/sign-up — 7-day free trial, no credit card.
- In Web.de webmail, open Einstellungen → POP3/IMAP Abruf and enable IMAP.
- In Mailopoly choose Add email account, enter your full Web.de address and your normal Web.de password.

2 Add Mailopoly to Grok
This part is the same whatever you connected in step 1.
Add Mailopoly to Grok
These steps are taken from public documentation, and we haven't yet checked each one in Grok ourselves. If a label doesn't match what you see, Grok's own help page, linked below, has the current wording.
- Go to grok.com/connectors.
- Choose New Connector, then Custom, and enter
https://fastapi.prod.aws.mailopoly.com/mcp-server/as the MCP server URL. If it asks for a name, use Mailopoly. - Sign in with your Mailopoly account when prompted, then choose what Grok is allowed to do. Reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions.
- Back in a chat, ask.
Grok takes Mailopoly as a custom connector, so the only thing to paste is one address. On Grok Business and Enterprise, an admin adds the connector for the team first in the xAI console. This is Grok's chat at grok.com and in the Grok apps; a Grok Bot has its own guide.
3 Ask about your Web.de
Whatever you've connected to Mailopoly is what your assistant can reach. Some things people ask on day one:
- Was ist heute Wichtiges in meiner Web.de Cleanbox? (Mailopoly answers in your language.)
- Find the insurance letter in my Web.de mail and tell me the deadline.
- Reply to the last message from the Vermieter from my Web.de address.
Web.de server settings
Mailopoly fills these in for you when you enter your address. They're here in case you need to check them or your provider uses something unusual.
| IMAP server | imap.web.de |
|---|---|
| Port | 993 |
| Security | SSL/TLS |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | Your normal Web.de password |
What Grok can do with Web.de through Mailopoly
- Search Web.de — and every other account you own — in one question. By sender, date, topic, or the half-remembered phrase somewhere in the body.
- Read your Cleanbox, not your whole inbox. Mailopoly sorts Web.de as it arrives: personal and important mail in Cleanbox, promotions and newsletters in Other. Ask for either.
- Summarise a thread, a day or a week. "What did the school send this week?" comes back as an answer, not a list of links.
- Reply from your Web.de address, in your voice. Save a draft to Mailopoly for review, or send — sending is a separate permission and a confirm-first action.
- Schedule a send for later, and cancel it if you change your mind.
- Pull out invoices, events and deliveries. Amounts and due dates, calendar invitations, parcel tracking — extracted on arrival and added to My Day.
- Find an attachment. Every attachment from Web.de lands in PolyBox, so "find the PDF the accountant sent" just works.
- Unsubscribe, snooze, file and mark read from the chat, on whichever account the mail belongs to.
Reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions you grant when you connect, and you can revoke Grok at any time from Settings → Security in the Mailopoly app. More on the security page.
What goes wrong with Web.de, and the fix
- IMAP is off until you enable it. A correct password still fails while POP3/IMAP retrieval is switched off.
- If two-factor authentication is on, your normal password will be refused and you'll need an app password from your provider's security settings.
- The help page is in German. The setting is under Einstellungen → POP3/IMAP Abruf.
- No Custom option under New Connector: on Grok Business and Enterprise, connectors are managed by an admin in the xAI console — ask them to add Mailopoly for the team.
