Connect Grok Bot to your email through Mailopoly

Grokbot and Mailopoly: Mailopoly is the connection that gives a Grok Bot your email — every account you own, in one place, under permissions you set. Add Mailopoly to the bot as a custom MCP server, sign in with your Mailopoly account and choose what it's allowed to do, and the bot can read, search and reply across Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud and any IMAP mailbox — and, with business channels added to your plan, your Slack, Teams, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and TikTok messages too. No separate bot inbox, no bot logging in to your provider. The bot never sees a password: reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions you grant once and can revoke at any time.

xAI spells it Grok Bot. Most people type Grokbot, and some write GrokBot — same product, and this guide covers it whichever way you spell it. It is not about the @grok account on X, and not about the chat at grok.com.

Does Grok Bot support Gmail without Mailopoly?

Yes, for Google accounts. Grok Bot ships with its own Gmail plugin, so a bot can search, draft and send in a Google mailbox with nothing else installed. What it doesn't cover is everything else you own: there is no Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud or IMAP, no way to ask one question across several accounts, and the bot gets raw messages — every newsletter and receipt in the same pile as the mail that matters.

The other advice you'll find is to give the bot a separate inbox of its own, so it never touches your real one. That keeps your mail safe by keeping the bot away from it — which rather defeats the point if the job was to deal with your mail. Mailopoly is the third option: the bot gets your real email, every account at once, already sorted, under permissions you set — and if you'd rather it didn't write as you, one of your @mly.life addresses to work from.

Before you start

  • Grok Bot, set up and signed in. This guide covers what happens once you have it.
  • A Mailopoly account — start one here, 7-day free trial, no credit card.
  • The mailboxes you want it to see, connected to Mailopoly. Gmail and Outlook connect with a Google or Microsoft sign-in; Yahoo, iCloud, AOL and IMAP mailboxes use an app password you enter on Mailopoly's own page — never in a chat or a config file. The connect guides have the exact steps for each provider.

Connect Grok Bot to your email in three steps

1 Connect your mailboxes to Mailopoly

  1. Start a Mailopoly account at mailopoly.com/sign-up — 7-day free trial, no credit card.
  2. Connect each mailbox you want the bot to reach: Gmail or Outlook with a Google or Microsoft sign-in, anything else with an app password from your provider's security settings. Each account gets one line in the same inbox — Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, any IMAP mailbox.
  3. If you want the bot to have an address of its own, pick one of the @mly.life addresses included in your plan and keep it for the agent's correspondence. It's still your address, on your account, so you see everything it sends and receives.

2 Add Mailopoly to Grok Bot

  1. In the bot's settings open Plugins → Add Custom MCP, name it Mailopoly and paste https://fastapi.prod.aws.mailopoly.com/mcp-server/ — or simply tell the bot in its chat: Add a custom MCP server called Mailopoly at https://fastapi.prod.aws.mailopoly.com/mcp-server/ and confirm when it shows you the name and URL.
  2. Choose Authorize on the connect card and sign in with your Mailopoly account.
  3. Tick what it's allowed to do. Reading on its own is enough for triage, summaries and finding things. Add making changes for drafts, labels, tasks and reminders. Add sending only if you want it to send mail — from any address you've connected, or from your @mly.life address.
  4. Bring it into a task with @Mailopoly and ask.

Grok's chat at grok.com has its own connectors page (grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom) where the same endpoint goes. A Grok Bot is set up from the bot's own settings or chat; a connector added at grok.com doesn't reach it.

3 Give it a job

Whatever you've connected to Mailopoly is what the bot can reach. Some jobs people hand over on day one:

  • Every morning at 7, go through what arrived overnight across all my accounts, summarise the five that need me, and draft replies to the two most urgent.
  • Find the freight quote from Pacific Logistics, tell me the total and the delivery date, and add the delivery to My Day.
  • Reply to Dana from my work address — say Thursday at 2 pm suits — and put the meeting in My Day.

What Grok Bot can do with your email through Mailopoly

  • Search every account in one question — Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud and IMAP together, or one account by name — by sender, date, topic or the half-remembered phrase somewhere in the body.
  • Work from the Cleanbox — your personal, non-promotional mail already separated from newsletters, promotions and automated noise, so a summary is a summary of what matters.
  • Read summaries, not raw messages — every email arrives already summarised, with invoices, events and deliveries extracted with their amounts, dates and status.
  • Keep My Day — see tasks and commitments pulled from every inbox, add tasks and reminders, tick things off.
  • Draft and send — save drafts to Mailopoly for you to review, or with the send permission send from whichever connected address fits the conversation, or from your @mly.life address.
  • Know what things cost — look up an invoice, total the week's bills, see what your subscriptions add up to.
  • Tidy up — label, file or clear mail in bulk, when you tell it to.
  • Business channels too — add them to your plan and your Slack, Teams, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and TikTok messages sit in the same connection, and replies go back out through the channel they arrived on.

Should you give an agent your email account at all?

The warnings you'll find are right about one thing: an agent that logs in to Gmail as you, with your password, on a machine you don't control, is a bad idea. Mailopoly doesn't work that way. Your Google and Microsoft accounts connect to Mailopoly through their own sign-in, and other providers through an app password you enter on Mailopoly's page — the bot never has a password in its hands and never logs in to your provider at all.

Grok Bot connects to Mailopoly with a scoped OAuth sign-in. Reading, making changes and sending are separate grants, sending is flagged as a confirm-first action in the protocol itself, every tool call is audit-logged against your account, and you can revoke the bot from Settings → Security → Connected AI assistants in the Mailopoly app — access ends immediately. Mailopoly is independently security-assessed to CASA Tier 2 by TAC Security. If you want a hard line, give the bot reading only, or give it one of your @mly.life addresses to send from so nothing leaves under your name unless you say so. More on whether it's safe to give AI access to your email and the security page.

What goes wrong with Grok Bot, and the fix

  • Nothing happens between runs. A Grok Bot only works while a run is going. Give it a routine — every 15 to 30 minutes is plenty for mail — rather than expecting it to sit and watch. For the bot to be *messaged* in near real time, and to message you back on your phone, see the Grok Bot agent guide.
  • You added Mailopoly at grok.com and the bot can't see it. Connectors at grok.com belong to Grok's chat. A Grok Bot needs the server added in its own settings or by the chat sentence above.
  • Not the @grok on X. Mentioning @grok in a post is a different product with no connectors at all.
  • It connected but the tools don't answer. Mailopoly's tools respond on an active subscription or trial. If the trial has lapsed, the connection stays but calls return nothing useful until the plan is active.
  • It can read but won't draft or send. Those are separate permissions. Sign in again from the bot and tick making changes or sending — or check what it holds under Settings → Security → Connected AI assistants in Mailopoly.
