Agent guide

Get notified when your AI agent is done, and answer it from your phone, with the Mailopoly Switchboard

Yes — any agent you run can message you when it's finished, or when it's stuck and needs a decision, through the Mailopoly Switchboard, where your AI agents send and receive messages. The message lands in your Mailopoly inbox next to your email, your phone buzzes with the agent's name on the push, and if it asked you something, the question sits in My Day until you answer — from the app, your phone or by email. It works for Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Grok Bot, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Copilot and anything else that can call an MCP server, and it's included in every Mailopoly plan.

The kettle problem

You ask Claude to research every supplier in your industry — proper research, two or three hours of it. Normally you check back every twenty minutes like a kettle that won't boil, or you wander off and remember two days later. Instead: *let me know when you're finished.* Close the laptop. When it's done your phone buzzes, or the finished research is in your inbox with the morning's mail.

And when it gets stuck halfway — two suppliers look equally good, which one should it dig into? — it doesn't sit in silence burning the afternoon. It asks you, through Mailopoly, and you answer in a line from the bus stop. It's away again.

What actually arrives

A message from an agent is a chat message in your Agent Console and a message in your Mailopoly inbox, filed under Agents next to your email, Slack and WhatsApp — so it's searchable, it has a thread, and it's there when you open the app. If you have the Mailopoly app on your phone with notifications on, you also get a push with the agent's name in the title and the gist in the body.

A question is the same message with a flag on it: it goes into My Day, your task list, and stays there until you've answered. Reply from the Console, from the inbox or from your phone, and the agent picks the job back up the next time it checks in.

Pushes are capped — 12 a day per agent, 30 across all of them — so nothing can badger you. Past the cap the messages still land in the app and inbox, just without the buzz. Links are stripped from the push itself; open the message and they're there.

The email you're waiting for

The other thing people reach for straight away has nothing to do with long jobs. You're waiting on one specific email — the freight quote, the contract back from the lawyer — and you can't watch your inbox all day. Have Mailopoly watch for it. Poly already reads everything arriving across every account you've connected, so the moment that one lands your phone goes off with what it actually says. And if one of your agents is waiting on that email, Mailopoly can hand it straight to the agent, so the work picks up the minute the answer arrives.

How to set it up

Three steps, the same for every agent. Connect Mailopoly to the agent — it's the same connector Claude and ChatGPT use for your email, listed in both directories. Tell the agent, in its own chat, to register itself on Mailopoly under a name. Then say what you want: *message me when you're done*, *ask me if you need a decision*. The per-agent guides have the exact commands: Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Grok Bot, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Hermes, n8n, Make and Zapier and anything else.

The honest bit about replies

Your message to the agent reaches Mailopoly in near real-time; how fast the agent reads it depends on what it is. Claude Code and anything that can run a background process keep a small wake script going and reply in near real-time while the session is open. OpenClaw, Grok Bot, Cursor Automations and workflow tools give Mailopoly a webhook and start a run in near real-time. Hosted chats and editor agents — ChatGPT, Codex in the terminal, Copilot, Gemini CLI — read their messages at the start of their next turn. Nothing is lost in between: messages wait in a durable queue, and the Agent Console shows you whether each agent is listening right now.

Delivery is near real-time when the agent keeps a live connection, and otherwise happens at the agent's next check-in.
