Connect guide

Connect your email to Perplexity

Perplexity can read, search and reply to your email through Mailopoly. Connect your mailbox to Mailopoly, add Mailopoly as a custom remote connector in Perplexity's Account settings → Connectors, sign in and ask. One connection covers every account you own — Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud and any IMAP mailbox — and on a paid plan your Slack, Teams, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok and X messages too.

Perplexity can reach the apps in its own connector list. Mailopoly is the route to your mail as a whole: one connector that gives Perplexity everything that reaches you, already sorted. Every address you own is searched in one pass, Cleanbox separates the mail you'd want to read from the promotions, invoices and events are extracted on arrival, and replies go out from whichever address the conversation belongs to.

Mailopoly isn't in Perplexity's connector list, so you add it as a custom remote connector — paste one address, then sign in. Custom connectors are on Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise.

Setup is the same three steps for every provider. The only part that changes is how your mailbox connects to Mailopoly: Gmail and Outlook use a Google or Microsoft sign-in, and most other providers use an app password you generate in your account's security settings. Pick your provider below for the exact steps.

Pick your email provider

Each guide has the exact steps for connecting that provider to Mailopoly and then to Perplexity, its server settings, example prompts and the things that go wrong.

Messaging channels — paid plans

On a paid plan, Perplexity gets your business channels through the same connection: read a week of a channel, find a message, reply back out through it. Pro and Business include channels; Single, Duo and Unlimited add them as app connections. The free trial covers email only.

How to add Mailopoly to Perplexity

Add Mailopoly to Perplexity

These steps are taken from public documentation, and we haven't yet checked each one in Perplexity ourselves. If a label doesn't match what you see, Perplexity's own help page, linked below, has the current wording.

  1. In Perplexity, open Account settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose + Custom connector at the top right, then Remote.
  3. Name it Mailopoly and enter https://fastapi.prod.aws.mailopoly.com/mcp-server/ as the MCP Server URL. For Authentication choose OAuth 2.0 — there's no client ID or secret to fill in, Mailopoly registers Perplexity itself — and for Transport choose Streamable HTTP.
  4. Tick the box confirming you understand the risks of custom connectors, choose Add, then click the Mailopoly card to sign in.
  5. Sign in with your Mailopoly account, then choose what Perplexity is allowed to do. Reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions.
  6. Back in Perplexity, ask.

Perplexity takes Mailopoly as a custom remote connector, so the only thing to paste is one address. Custom connectors are available on Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise; on Enterprise, an admin has to allow them for the organisation first.

Whatever you've connected to Mailopoly is what Perplexity can reach. Reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions, and you can revoke Perplexity at any time from Settings → Security in the Mailopoly app — see the security page and the Mailopoly MCP page for other clients.
