Connect Mail.ru to Grok
Yes — Grok can read, search and reply to your Mail.ru through Mailopoly. Connect Mail.ru to Mailopoly with a Mail.ru app password, add Mailopoly to Grok as a custom connector, sign in and ask. One connection covers Mail.ru and every other account you own. Mail.ru requires an app password for IMAP; your normal login password will be refused.
7-day free trial, no credit card.
This guide also covers inbox.ru, list.ru and bk.ru — the steps are the same.
Before you start
- A Mailopoly account — 7-day free trial, no credit card.
- Mail.ru requires an app password for IMAP; your normal login password will be refused.
- Grok at grok.com or in the Grok apps. On Grok Business or Enterprise, an admin adds the connector for the team first.
Connect Mail.ru to Grok in three steps
1 Connect Mail.ru to Mailopoly
- Start a Mailopoly account at mailopoly.com/sign-up — 7-day free trial, no credit card.
- In Mail.ru, open Security → Passwords for external applications and create a password for mail.
- Copy the app password Mail.ru shows you.
- In Mailopoly choose Add email account, enter your full Mail.ru address and paste the app password.

2 Add Mailopoly to Grok
This part is the same whatever you connected in step 1.
Add Mailopoly to Grok
These steps are taken from public documentation, and we haven't yet checked each one in Grok ourselves. If a label doesn't match what you see, Grok's own help page, linked below, has the current wording.
- Go to grok.com/connectors.
- Choose New Connector, then Custom, and enter
https://fastapi.prod.aws.mailopoly.com/mcp-server/as the MCP server URL. If it asks for a name, use Mailopoly. - Sign in with your Mailopoly account when prompted, then choose what Grok is allowed to do. Reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions.
- Back in a chat, ask.
Grok takes Mailopoly as a custom connector, so the only thing to paste is one address. On Grok Business and Enterprise, an admin adds the connector for the team first in the xAI console. This is Grok's chat at grok.com and in the Grok apps; a Grok Bot has its own guide.
3 Ask about your Mail.ru
Whatever you've connected to Mailopoly is what your assistant can reach. Some things people ask on day one:
- Summarise my Mail.ru Cleanbox for today.
- Find the delivery notification in my Mail.ru and track the parcel.
- Reply to the last message from my Mail.ru address.
Mail.ru server settings
Mailopoly fills these in for you when you enter your address. They're here in case you need to check them or your provider uses something unusual.
| IMAP server | imap.mail.ru |
|---|---|
| Port | 993 |
| Security | SSL/TLS |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | Mail.ru app password |
What Grok can do with Mail.ru through Mailopoly
- Search Mail.ru — and every other account you own — in one question. By sender, date, topic, or the half-remembered phrase somewhere in the body.
- Read your Cleanbox, not your whole inbox. Mailopoly sorts Mail.ru as it arrives: personal and important mail in Cleanbox, promotions and newsletters in Other. Ask for either.
- Summarise a thread, a day or a week. "What did the school send this week?" comes back as an answer, not a list of links.
- Reply from your Mail.ru address, in your voice. Save a draft to Mailopoly for review, or send — sending is a separate permission and a confirm-first action.
- Schedule a send for later, and cancel it if you change your mind.
- Pull out invoices, events and deliveries. Amounts and due dates, calendar invitations, parcel tracking — extracted on arrival and added to My Day.
- Find an attachment. Every attachment from Mail.ru lands in PolyBox, so "find the PDF the accountant sent" just works.
- Unsubscribe, snooze, file and mark read from the chat, on whichever account the mail belongs to.
Reading, making changes and sending are separate permissions you grant when you connect, and you can revoke Grok at any time from Settings → Security in the Mailopoly app. More on the security page.
What goes wrong with Mail.ru, and the fix
- Your normal Mail.ru password will be refused by mail apps. Only an app password works.
- inbox.ru, list.ru and bk.ru addresses use the same servers and the same app-password process.
- Use your full email address as the username, not just the part before the @.
- No Custom option under New Connector: on Grok Business and Enterprise, connectors are managed by an admin in the xAI console — ask them to add Mailopoly for the team.
